Meryal Waterpark and Lusail: Is It Worth a Full Day?

Updated October 28, 2026 · 4 min read

Tall twisting water slides descending from the oil-rig-themed tower at Meryal Waterpark

Meryal is worth a full day when water slides are the main event; it is poor value as a quick stop between Doha sights. The Meryal Waterpark entry ticket starts at €74.14 and provides access to Qatar’s largest waterpark on Qetaifan Island North in Lusail.

What is actually at Meryal?

Visit Qatar lists 53 slides and 69 attractions. The visual centrepiece is the 85-metre Icon Tower, themed around an oil rig. That headline can obscure the practical point: not every attraction is suitable for every visitor. Height, weight and rider rules vary by slide and must be checked on the park’s own information before buying for children.

There are lower-thrill options as well as the major slides. One example is the Wave River with its caves and waterfalls. Whether and where a life jacket is required is set out in the park rules. Families should map suitable attractions first rather than discovering at the queue that one child cannot ride.

Opening days and weather

The park is open Tuesday to Sunday and closed on Monday. Sources disagree on the hours: depending on the listing it opens at 10am or at noon and closes at 6pm. Seasonal events and maintenance can change access, so confirm the date and time on the official site.

Heat is not a reason to ignore sun exposure: queues, paths and pools still involve time outdoors. Bring suitable swimwear and sun protection and follow the park’s rules. Check what may be brought inside rather than assuming outside food, flotation equipment or glass bottles are allowed.

Should you combine it with Lusail?

Yes, but keep the add-on light. An evening walk or meal in Lusail after the park can work if everyone still has energy. A full Lusail sightseeing programme plus the waterpark usually means sacrificing the ticket’s value. The park itself sits on Qetaifan Island North, not beside every central Lusail attraction.

Public transport can cover much of the journey towards Lusail, but the final connection and operating times matter. A taxi is simpler for a family carrying swim gear. Confirm the return plan before sunset rather than improvising when the park closes.

Ticket or transfer package?

Choose a simple ticket if you can arrange transport confidently. A transfer package may be useful for a group that wants door-to-door travel, but compare what is included: some products bundle entry, others only transport or selected extras. The linked Meryal entry ticket is the relevant baseline; read the booking page for the chosen date.

Meryal is a strong choice for families and slide enthusiasts with a full free day. Travellers on a short stopover, visitors who dislike intense water rides or groups with very different height restrictions will get more from a compact Doha activity.
